MOSCOW, Dec 14 (PRIME) -- Moscow expects that a Norilsk Nickel facility in Finland's Harj avalta will continue operations after alternative sources of raw materials were found after a local railway operator refused to carry Russian cargo from 2023, Trade Representative Anton Loginov told PRIME in an interview released on Wednesday.
"We expect that the Harjavalta plant will continue work, and the Finnish side will not at least create obstacles,” Loginov said.
“We will not forget that this facility is the only one in the town and is the key element in a battery cluster planned in the region."
Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta produces over 60,000 tonnes of nickel a year, or 5% of the world’s production of the metal. It has a turnover of 1 billion euros.
The official also said that Finland continues to import liquefied natural gas from Russia's Novatek, and that the bills are still paid in euros.
